Welsh WW1 Temporary Tin Badges
I was lucky enough recently to nearly complete my collection of WW1 temporary tin badges worn by a number of Welsh units and Welshmen. I say nearly, as I believe there is an SWB one in existence that I would like to add one day.
The two on the left and the bottom right are RWF of course and the top right the Monmouthshire version, Interesting to see the makers details on the back... There's some prior discussion on the latter by Brookies on this thread: https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...t=78091&page=3 |

What a superb collection. I have photograph somewhere of the South Wales Borderers one being worn. I will dig it out and post it.

Sadly, the badge does not show up too clearly in the photograph.

Thank you so much LukeH and High Wood. That's the one! Both are wonderful pictures. Thanks for posting.
I think there may even be a SWB and a 6 SWB in existence... Best J |

Afternoon Jon.
Some nice badges you have there again. The bottom left RWF badge was worn as both cap badge and collar badge as have three cabinet photo’s of them being worn. As you say the top left is a Mons (correct dragon) badge as ordered by one of the important families in Monmouth (take it this and the other RWF were from Bosley’s last auction). Somewhere along the line dealers are getting badges mixed up as one has the RWF as Mons and other has Mons as RWF. Saw the 6 SWB minus pin for sale a few years ago for a fiver, regrettably didn’t buy it as gonna be a lot more expensive now. Again nice badges. Ta Jonathan |

Thanks Jonathan,
I do have a nice photo of bottom right being worn too. I'm currently going through a whole stack of photographs from CSM Tom Davies MC of the 13th RWF to see if there are any in evidence there. Its a huge lot, and his cloth came with it - interesting study of his used and unused Div signs... |
