Default Royal engineers

Gentlemen
Thoughts on a time for these I believe are royal engineers
I have an estate from ww2 with these badges also, are these for the shoulder?

Universal grenades so as the name suggests they were worn by a number of units on collars and shoulder and even in the side cap.
