WWII-Suez Parachute wing stud opinion

Gidday all

I recently purchased this Para wing(in NZ) for approx 10£.

Standard horizontal feathers and it has a stud type press-not to sure of the correct Brit term. Its quite a thick wing being machine embroidered on wool with a thick cloth backing add to that a solid bar (?) sewn to back with studs.

The auction site had it listed as WWII-Suez Para wing.

Can some one show this type in use?

Also could this be theatre made?

The wings look very authentic to me (but I'm no expert) - factory made but modified by a unit tailor so that they can could be worn on a KD shirt and removed for the dhobi. The dealers description of "Suez" or "Suez period" presumably means that the wings could have been worn in 16 (or 44) Para Bde in the mid-1950s. Mike

I don't go by the story or description on an auction I bid on.

To me its more important on what mental database I have accumulated and others who have more experience than I before I decide to bid/buy.

This one I went off the horizontal feathers(WWII-early 50's) and I liked the reverse stud attached, not a common look. Also in the hand its better , quite thick actually.

Whether WWII or post mid 50's, I like it.

Definitely! Two good wings for very little money.

Certainly another bargain, although, wings like those were certainly worn for well over a decade after the war.

When I clicked on the link, this is the image that came up as a large one, with the others below, so if that is what you looked at, then yes, they are indeed French, the photographs caption is a bit of a clue!

I'm baffled - the image seem comprehensively blocked , but I can open it when I click on the link I provided. The image shows two members of 3 Para each with a Bren LMG, Cpl on the left with wings, DZ flash and chevrons on his smock, both wearing berets. An image search for "British Paras at Suez 1956" should reveal the image described. Mike
