Need help identifying RAF patch

Picked this up at a flea market a while back and would like to try to date it and find out as much info as possible about it. Any help identifying this gorgeous piece would be greatly appreciated.

Jenn, it looks like an RAF Mess Dress wings. Warren Carroll's book "Wings. Canada & Great Britain 1913-1945" (p. 105) shows something similar (see picture).
