Default London Regiment Marksman badge

Hi All
This was sold to me as a post Anglo-Boer War Artist's Rifles corporal marksman badge set but I thought the grey might be London Scottish. Can anyone ID it correctly and tell me when it was worn? I will probably sell it if there is any interest.
Cheers,
Alex

It could be for any of the Volunteer units that wore gray uniforms.

Hi Colin
Thanks very much. Is it common then, do you have any idea of value?
Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

the combo of silver bullion on grey indicate a Volunteer Battalion to me. The kings crown puts it 1901 - 1908 period.

In that time quite a few Battalions wore grey tunics harking back to the RVC days and in particular the Middlesex and London Rifle Battalions.

So therefore it could well be either of the two units you mention (pre 1908 designations though) or similarly many others.

regards

Whilst I cannot comment on the value, I think it certainly is on the rare side. I have been collecting old bullion for several years now, and I don't recollect ever seeing anything like this.
