Barrel pattern titles...
2 CID infantry battalions dropped the geometric formation patches in the fall of 1942. Shortly after the Dieppe raid the division commander required the infantry units to adopt regimental titles, but all of the same shape. Described as "barrel" pattern, the first issue of titles for most of the regiments was an embroidered pattern title. LAC records indicate they were taken into service between late 1942 and into the first few months of 1943. This coincided with the adoption of printed titles by the Canadian army overseas. The first pattern embroidered titles were replaced by printed titles later in 1943.
