Perth Regiment Cap Badge questions
I wonder if someone can help me learn more about this cap badge and these buttons. Admittedly, until yesterday when I discovered them in a jar of old buttons that I bought at a garage sale, I had no idea what the badge was. I’ve read every post on this site about The Perth Regiment but haven’t seen a reference to this type of badge. From the perthregiment.org website I’ve learned that it may be what’s called a 1st pattern cap badge. I’d really like to get an idea of their age, value and any other information known about them.
Thanks for your time! |

Hi pduskocy, Welcome to the Forum.
There is a similar badge in the 1920-1950 king's crown gallery. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/can...stry/index.htm Not sure about the size of the badge, it may be a collar.

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry, I should have thought to include the measurements... It measures about 1 3/4 inches vertically and 1 1/2 inches horizontally. I bought them in Stratford, Ontario if that also helps. ~Pam

with the dimentions quoted, 1 3/4 X 1 1/2, to me would indicate a Cap badge. It appears to be the pattern worn in World War Two. The Regiment was raised in Stratford Ontario.
11th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 5th Armoured Division Home Station Stratford Ontario Mobilized on September 1, 1939 Embarked for the United Kingdom on October 9, 1941 Landed in Italy on November 8, 1943 Moved to North-West Europe in March 1945 Battle Honours Liri Valley, Gothic Line, Coriano, Lamone Crossing, Fosso Muni, Conventello-Commachhio, Italy 1943-1945, Ijsselmeer, , Delfzijl Pocket, North-West Europe 1945

Hi, Cliff is right, the measurements would indicate a cap badge.
