WW1 Medals
Morning!
My brother-in-law has a death plaque of a family member, no one knows what happened to the medals. He has expressed an interest in putting the plaque on display and would also like to obtain the matching medals. Is that possible and how would one track down the medals of a specific man - assuming that they had been on the market at some point? Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Craig |

A bit like looking for a needle in a haystack I'm afraid, my first port of call would be The British Medal Forum where they have a sub forum for people seeking family medals. Good luck!

Token Publidhing fun Medal Tracker:
http://www.medaltracker.com/ In each edition of their magazine Medal News they print a few pages of medals that people are seeking. There are other medal search sites dotted around such as: http://medalsreunitednz.co.nz/medal-search-2/ Last edited by leigh kitchen; 27-10-15 at 09:14 AM. |

I'm assuming he was in the Army rather than the Navy or Royal Air Force, if so, the first thing to do is check WO372 and WO339 to make sure they were issued in the first place.

I'd start with a simple Google on the known details.

I'm sure if you put his name on here with any other details you have you'll get some help before the evenings out from a couple of the members

Thanks for the help so far guys & girls - I'll pass any information on.
The chap in question is Pte John Loftus 241950, 24th Battn, Royal Welsh Fusiliers. KIA Egypt 31 Oct 1917 - Beersheba war cemetry, plot K, grave 17. I'm told he is eligable for 14-15 star, BWM & Victory medal. Thanks. |
