Default 1 S.S.F.

I am looking for information on a 1st Special Service Force worn by Canadian forces in Afghanistan. I saw a picture of one being worn in another forum. The patch lettering looks to be gray.

Thank you
John

There is photographic evidence that CSOR is using (used) the FSSF badge both overseas and in North America. For those that are unaware, CSOR is perpetuating the FSSF.

Hello John, The link works fine. As Stephen notes the CSOR is perpetuating the FSSF, and are wearing a similar patch to the FSSF.

Stephen, Bill,

Would it be an approved patch for them?

Not sure what approved means these days. The patching in Afghanistan was mostly not officially authorized, but it was actually encouraged as a morale / esprit de corps measure. If the patch has official authorization it is a departure from Canadian practice. The patch is more of a formation patch than a unit patch, given it's shape and position being worn.

Hi tynesideirish, The patch is actually being worn in other locations. The CSOR has been granted the perpetuation of the FSSF. It appears that part of the perpetuation is the use of the patch. The information starts on page 9 of that thread.

Hi Bill,

It looks like only memebers can read the link you sent.

Ok. I didn't realize that, as I am a member. It shows a link to the CSOR perpetuation, and an image of a para jump at Helena Montana, within the last couple of years. The Canadian CSOR fellows are wearing the FSSF patch.
