Marine Commando c1944
I have "rescued" a couple of photo's of WW2 servicemen from some broken frames. One is a Kiwi Sgt pilot, which I will post elsewhere and the other is the one posted here.
This Marine is serving in one of the Commandos. I would imagine about the time of D Day. He is wearing the later war battledress with the exposed buttons, but it is not so late that he has a collar and tie or any medal ribbons.
He is wearing a round "Combined Ops" badge below a "Commando" title below a "Royal Marines" title with number. Can anybody with better eyes than me read the number?
I will post a "blow up" of the badges, which might help. It will probably be somewhere between 40 and 48.
Lastly, there is something written on the back of the mounting board. I can't read the writing, but I would like to hope it that it is his name.
