Default Royal Naval Division Badges - Your Opinions

Gentlemen. I recently acquired a collection of eight Royal Naval Division badges. Most are fitted by two posts but Hood and Drake are sliders, the slider to Drake is marked JR Gaunt London whilst the slider to Hood is marked simply, England. The RM badge is pin back

They have been nicely framed so I'm not able to examine the backs but from the pictures, take of course through the glass, is it possible to determine if these are original badges?

Best regards,

Simon

Sorry they all look like duds to me. Original RND badges were never slidered.

Paddy has an excellent album of originals, if you compare yours to his you can see the differences.

Cheers,
Luke

Sorry to say I think they are all copies I’m afraid, others will confirm either way I’m sure.

Simon

Sorry but I would have to agree that they are all fakes/copies.

An interesting thread.
Thanks for the reference to Paddy's impressive album.
I notice two badges in there I have not previously been aware of - Hood and Nelson - small, slidered variants.
Any further thoughts/information on these would be appreciated
Mike

As the annotation on Paddy’s pictures of those ‘oddity’ badges says he believes they are not genuine but has included them for reference. I completely agree with his assessment of these.

The only one I disagree with is the solid crown Drake badge w/o braze holes, my gut tells me those ones are real albeit I wouldn’t pay full going rate for one just in case.

Cheers,
Luke

I'd be interested to see the reverse of the RMLI.

Luke - thanks for replying - clearly I need to take time to read the notations in Paddy's album... bit of a rush when I looked. The two small slidered ones he has are interesting curios, but I agree the need for caution given the degree of reproducing RND items - Mike
