Border Regiment Veteran Badge

I've put this badge down as Veteran due to the lack of any reference to association on the badge, and the overseas chevrons.
It is, in my opinion, an unusual badge, though I have seen another a good few years back, which I passed over at that time. Had to have this time. Opinions/corrections welcome.

The fitting for the chevrons was available as an optional extra by a particular badge maker, not that I know which one. It seems that it was a gimic to sell more lapel badges.

It often has an odd little screw post fitting complete with a Design/ Patent number. I've got a few of these, some with a red chevron. Suspect that it may be a Gaunt design as most have their stamp to the half moon clip.

They usually get a bit bashed about so turn up chipped and otherwise abused....

Yes, a way to sell more badges...

Just a thought, but you may track down the owner of the patent through the Board of Trade files held at National Archives.

I solved part of my Derby Group badge question this way!

I don't know if you opened the links to my sweetheart album but the Hampshire Cyclists badge has the half moon clip and the patent number.

In the interests of impartiality, other chevron badges are available.
