Probably superfluous info, but:

QMS at time of first MiD 1/6/15
QMS at time of second MiD 31/12/15
Staff Sergeant Acting Sjt Major at time of third MiD 21/12/17.

Later Transport Warrant Officer Class 1.

Quarter Master Serjeant /Acting Serjeant Major

Another possible candidate: 5341 Sgt William E Conway. M.M. L/G 9th July 1917. 1914 Star and Clasp. Serjeant Major 14th July 1932.

My grandfather; born 1860, joined up at 16, served in Afghanistan and SA, retired early 1900's and volunteered at the age of 54 in 1914

Apparently he wanted to fight but they wouldn't let him; died at age of 75 kickstarting his motorbike, having fathered my Father at the age of 70...

They made them tough then.
