Spoke with a pal today he says there was a Scots regiment officer sent out to command a company of Marines ( he thinks it that unit )as an officer replacement / some one taken ill ? details a bit sketchy but he is certain story is true .

I may be poor sighted but I could not see an RAF other ranks badge on the board with the metal badges or the 63 Sqn badge on the board with crests on it. D.J.

Just a thought but didn't the Royal Marines and Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders have regular exchanges of officers? Perhaps the officer mentioned by your friend was an Argyll on exchange?

I'll ask someone into Argyll history if this is probable.

63 Sqn are not on the board - but I can't find any reference to them being in Operation Corporate ? I've checked the definitive book on the Air War in the Falklands - and they have 19 RAF sqns involved but not 63?

Hi Michael

Further to my previous reply my friend believes the Argyll officer was a Captain Pritchard.

You live and learn! I assume though as the original thread concerns cap badges the RAF Regiment uses the RAF "cap badge"?

They certainly did in my day (1978-87; 48 Squadron RAF Regiment 1981-82).
