Default 6th Duke of Connaught's Royal Canadian Hussars

Not seeing a thread for the 6th Hussars, I will start one.

I have a badge for this regiment (1933 until amalgamation pattern) not in the usual white metal, but in a dark coloured metal. It's not a brown, more of a grey, but not an oily (ie obvious fake) grey. It's sort of like an OSD badge, but not really. It does have clear stamping front and back, including the "Scully Montreal" makers mark. It doesn't really polish. The lugs look unlike those used by Scully in any time period.

Does anyone know anything about this badge? Is it authentic? If so, when and for whom? Is it the result of some forger trying to figure out what metal to use? Is it UK-made crap?

As far as I know, nobody attempted to make copies of this badge....yet....and is still available in shows for $20.00 to $25.00 in white metal.

For officers' service dress? I have seen a photo somewhere with this pattern of osd badge in wear. I think the badge was on a forage cap.

However, like Voltigeur, I think it's an odd badge to repro.

Default DCRCH

Here is another version, a brass version, flat back. I don't think its an officers as it does not have the gilt finish.
