Nova Scotia Militia badge
I have a 69th. Annapolis Regiment Infantry badge, dated 1910, made by
P.W. Ellis & Co. Various searches have turned up very little. About all I can find online about the regiment is: "On 8 May 1900, as part of the reorganization of the Militia, the battalion was designated as a Regiment, being known as the 69th Annapolis Regiment." I'm wondering if anyone has any other information. The badge itself seems to be quite scarce. Thanks, David |

From Charles Stewart's "Consice Lineages of the Canadian Army 1885 - Date":
The regiment was raised Oct. 8, 1869 as The First Regiment of Annapolis County Volunteers at Kentville, Nova Scotia. It was redesignated the 69th The First Annapolis County Regiment Nov. 5, 1869 and at a later date the 69th 1st Annapolis Battalion of Infantry. The 72nd 2nd Annapolis Battalion of Infantry was amalgamated Sept. 1, 1898 with the designation the 69th Annapolis Battalion of Infantry. It became the 69th Annapolis Regiment May 8, 1900 and the Annapolis Regiment May 1, 1920. The regiment amalgamated with The Lunenburg Regiment on December 15, 1936 to form the West Nova Scotia Regiment. |

Thanks for the information.
I'm wondering if anyone has seen a badge like this one. The badge I have is solid one piece and not voided like the example I have seen online. It also has a guilt wash overall, and there is no oxidation, wear, or aging. It was found in a box of possessions in an old house in Parrsboro N.S. I will attach a photo later. David |

Here is a link to a photo of the badge. It is in mint condition, no trace of aging, and it seems to have a gilt wash(?) on both sides. Lugs and cotter pin intact. Makers name is on the left hand section of the banner, date is on the back. David Last edited by fluggies4; 06-07-14 at 11:47 PM. |

Hi fluggies4, Can you post to the forum instead of a link? The link requires an account and log in.

I can't seem to publish directly on the forum...maybe I have to have a certain number of posts before I can do this?
Anyway, the Flickr link should open. David |
