It looks terrible. Yes. Another fake.
Chemically aged, jelly mould-like reverse to rose, flat and no bottom edge to reverse of scroll in places, poor reverse detail esp. the I.Y. area. Still Yet to see a genuine one of these with loops in that position. It’s shockingly bad from the back. A genuine item below. |

.... to a complete novices eye on these. It will take a bit to get my eye in. Thanks Luke.

Not wishing to take sides on this; but I must agree with Luke's assessment regarding that latest badge shown. All else aside, just the color of the metal would set off alarms.

Another like Griff MJ ,I had put aside a quality WM made badge nicely clear both sides pebbled behind the letters of the scroll and appears to have braised lugs. A quality Die well executed however only 5 dots around central dot. (Sorry that should have read 6 dots) Regards Stephen Last edited by yorkstone; 12-09-23 at 01:59 PM. |

6-dot Marsh fake.
The catalogue pics have been gone over at the edges but centre and rose is clear enough. |

Griff I agree Luke I also agree 6 dot ?
But this is a high quality struck badge with braised lugs and not of inferior quality of marsh fakes perhaps much earlier like Johnny Morris of Aston who reportedly used original Dies? I recall visiting his shop in Aston (Birmingham) in the early 1970’s.others may recall his shop. just found this thread interesting and worth adding my badge to the mix. As it is very good strike front and back and braised lugs! Regards to all Stephen |
