Default CYPRUS DISTRICT

I just received this Cyprus District formation patch, local made. What do you think of it?

Hi Jerry
Can't pass an opinion on whether yours is good or not, but posted this image of a battle dress I have for comparison for you. I know the badges on the BD are ok as I had it from the officers family.

Hope this is useful to you.

Cheers

Rob

Hi Jerry
My pleasure, it's been great being able to post something useful to someone instead of having to ask for information myself.

Default Cyprus District

Here'a a selction of genuine Cyprus District signs - tailor (?) made above and Ordnance issue below. With respect to the Cypriot embroiderers responsible for the former, they are not the most skilful in the world!

MIKE, Your bottom right patch is facing the right. Is that correct? Or is it a tailor mistake?

Default Cyprus District

I have always assumed that this was technically an error by an enthusiastic and more professional embroiderer who was using his initiative and making up superior facing pairs - destined in the main for officer's battledress blouses in the winter. I believe that heraldic correctness dictates that these Lucignian lions should be "passant guardant" and heading west. The lion also featured on the rarer than rare sign of the Second World War 25 Corps.

Tim,
It would seem that your number one (EonF) is the mirror image of my number four.

Ditto Tim, your No 3 is the same(ish) as my version. Could be the same tailor?
