GLENGARRY CAP WITH DICED BAND
Hi, I have a question to use. Would I assume that most of the Scottish Regiments and volunteer battalions wore this type of headgear.
Regards Simon. |

Hello Simon,
Not my area and there may be other Regiments that wore this pattern of dicing but I have a similar cap badged to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Ry |

Hi Ry, same here. Not too knowledgable on this type of thing. I'm planning in my head how to display the Scots collection one day, and thought about combining all badges with connection to the Scot's etc and see if I could get my hands on one of these to put in with them.
If I see one, then I'll know what I'm looking for. Wouldn't want to display a WW2 one if this was not the pattern seen in WW1. Simon. |

These can be found in the albums section IIRC. It'll be a lot cheaper and there's less room for error. However, that said finding out which caps are suitable for which regiment and period might make an interesting study. Ry |

Appendix III of the book "Dressed to Kill" by Michael Dorosh has a nice chart detailing which pattern of Glengarry (which colour dicing, toorie, etc.) was worn by each of the highland regiments in the Canadian army during WW2. Very helpful when trying to decide which badge to place on a cap that is missing its badge.
Unfortunately, the book only covers the Canadian army, but you could always put a Canadian badge on the cap. This particular pattern of glengarry was worn by the following Canadian regiments during WW2: The Pictou Highlanders The North Nova Scotia Highlanders (M.G.) The Essex Scottish The 48th Highlanders of Canada The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada The Canadian Scottish Regiment The Scots Fusiliers of Canada The Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin, and Halton Regiment) |

The Glengarry of the A & SH should only have white and red dicing not red, white and black.
