What is the going rate for a sterling WW2 SDR officer's cap badge these days (and how hard are they to find)?
The reason I ask - I just picked up a beautiful WW2 era officer's SDG balmoral cap (with correct blue toorie and McDonell of Glengarry tartan swatch). The only thing missing (of course) is the badge. I do have a nice white metal SDG Highlanders badge that will suffice for now. Unfortunately, I am guessing that the price of a sterling officer's badge is way out of my budget (I am not really a hard-core badge collector), so the w/m badge will probably have to do. Would it have been at all common for an officer to wear a regular white metal badge, or was it 100% that officers would wear sterling badges? |

Had a chance to look at an officer's service dress and kilt, SD & G Highr's at the CSMMI Show. The glengarry with the lot had a or's badge that had been chromed. There was a sterling officer's SD & G badge sold at the same show, and I believe the price was $185.
