Cant make out badge or title?

He is a Royal Engineer. Mid-late war with a good conduct chevron and a 1915 pattern cap.

That's odd and as there are no medal ribbons so it looks to have been taken before 1919.

Also if you look at the chinstrap it has been split over and under the badge. This was a wartime affection and not something you would get away with as a regular in 1920.

The service number quoted in the address is from the regimental numbering system introduced in 1920
