Auxiliary Territorial Service WWII Plastic Economy Fitttings.
Other than one badge which had west/east flat metal prongs, every ATS WWII Plastic economy cap badge I've ever seen has had a plastic slider which has been marked to JR&L Ltd (Jarret, Rainsford & Laughton Ltd).
I've always regarded the slidered version as being the norm, however I've just read on a dealer's site that these badges are most commonly found with metal prongs and that the plastic slidered version is much scarcer. Am I wrong in thinking that slidered is the norm and that pronged is not common? |

All the ones I have had have had the plastic slider.

No less than fifteen plastic ATS on eBay currently and all have (or had) the plastic slider. So contrary to that dealer’s claim I would suggest the opposite is in fact true.
Cannot recall seeing one on tangs. |

Thanks, just wanted to make sure that I hadn't some how missed spotting hordes of ATS badges with prong fittings over the decades.

Thanks, could be the dealer confused the metal fittings being the most common fittings on most types of WWII economy plastics with their being the most common fittings on the ATS badges.
Anybody any idea what the manufacturer's mark on the badge I'm showing is (not the best quality photos). |
