Default 77th Infantry Formation Patch Valid for Home Guard

I am slowly adding formation patches worn by the Home Guard to my Collection, and have a question about the validity of one being associated/worn by the Home Guard. The patch in question is for the 77th Infantry Formation patch - a sword being raised out of the water.

My copy of Mills and Carney (so far my best reference) does not show this patch for Cornwall, while a picture I found in surfing for Home Guard info, shows a print with the Cornwall Home Guard patheces and the one for eh 77th is shown as being for he 2nd Coastal Battalion.

Before I start seeking one of these patches, can any one advise me if it is indeed a valid Home Guard patch?

Thank you,

Terry

Terry,

I have in my collection a privately printed pamphlet written by the noted Cornish and Home Guard historian Charles Thomas which covered in detail the badges of the Cornish Home Guard.

It makes no mention of the sign of 77th Division being worn by the Home Guard especially as the 2nd Coastal Bn had its own sign - sample attached - which appears in our book.

So unless there is some evidence of its use I have to say not an HG badge.

Jon

Thank you jon,

Yes, I have seen that badge being part of the Cornwall HG, but only the one reference to the 77th. Very much appreciate your reply,

Terry
