Thanks, that makes sense as I believe he was later a PSAO - Permanent Staff Administrative Officer in a Territorial Army (non medical) unit.

Yes it was a field training camp for the AMS. Mostly the TA field hospitals, Who would do exercise petit mash there. That was a field hospital exercise that often used army cadets as casualties.

It was in the early 1960s when there was a Medical Rehabilitation Unit which treated recovering casualties from conflicts in Aden and Borneo etc. A precursor to Headley Court.

The AMS FTC (as you're probably already aware) is now at Towthorpe Lines (just around the corner from HQ 2 Med Bde and 34 Field Hospital at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall). I actually took part in a "Petit Mash" at Towthorpe in September 2004 as a Watchkeeper - that was a bit of an eye opener for a Light Infantryman !
