Default Anodised Aluminium badges unusual ?

Hello,
I attended the Preston Arms fair 31/5/10, did'nt pick up anything but did note a couple of dealers were selling a/a badges with what I would describe as tangs, similar to those fitted to OSD badges.
I have never come across this type if fixing on a/a badges before.
Are these genuine or a new type of copy?
regards Tony.

Default Danbury Mint - tanged anodised badges for collectors

Tony, sounds like the product of the Danbury Mint one of a set made in the 1970s "for collectors"
Here is the original advert from a Sunday Supplement Magazine. The badges cost £9.98 each! So 80 x £9.98 = £798.40 for the set but that included two "dark oak military frames" and the booklet in the first picture!

Full set in 54Bty post:

Thanks Tony, I live on the "sunny" south coast so the northern fairs are a bit to far but saying that I was in "Emmerdale" country (Leeds area) at the weekend and went to the Wakefield fair.
Regards Jerry.

Yes I picked up a RAOC example at Birmingham a few years back, and was at first puzzled to what it was, and later found out it was a Danbury Mint Collectors Set. Have seen a few since, plus a complete set for sale on eBay.

Hi Guys,

These are interesting reproductions with excellent obverse detail. They were also very expensive to purchase when released.

Regards

Chris
