I don't think so Tony, just an OR's badge being used in the pagri.
Having said that, there is evidence of OR's badges being gilded and broached pinned as well as OSD badges being pinned. I believe these were made/adapted to be used on the pagri. Ivan |

Judging by the photo I posted Alan and what Julian said, I would say yes!

Here is a looped version that has been pinned for the Pagri possibly?

No Alan / Ivan, Sorry I realised I should have made that clear - the "Service Dress Hat / Headgear" is actually the 'slouch hat' ! The socket was to be fitted to the FSH ("Foreign Service Helmet") ie 'pith helmet' AND the SDH.
I thought it was clear that the Brodrick was not to be fitted with a socket. Yes Tony / Ivan, an excellent example of officer's badges having sliders - discussed quite clearly in Col Wood's new edition of his Northumberland Fusiliers Insignia book. Last edited by KLR; 30-09-14 at 09:58 PM. |

Marvellous Griff, thanks.
People may disagree with me but I am sure these badges had the original fittings removed and broach pins fitted so they could be worn on the pagri. I know we've had this conversation before whether the pins were for sweetheart badges, civilian clothes or for pagris but for me, its got to be for wear on the FSH on the pagri. Ivan |

We had the conversation about badges with long sliders being worn on Brodrick caps over a year ago:
http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=28138 I have seen another two original Brodricks since in private collections and both still have their original badges in place. As with the originals in my own collection, both had badges fixed with long lugs to fit through the two layers of fabric on the separate peak. I have yet to see an original Brodrick fitted with a badge with a slider - or evidence that it has ever had one. |

I believe it is Chuchill's book that includes a Royal Fusiliers collar badge manufactured with a slider which is attributed to the Brodrick. I have an example of this badge and it was never fitted with lugs.

It would be good to see an original RF Brodrick, or photographs of RF men wearing them to see which badge they wore.
Sliders may have been used but the badge has to be fixed through two layers of cloth, and the stiffener, inside the separate peak. In addition the lower part of the badges sat over the turned up pocket too so the fixing - whatever it is - has to go through three laters of fabric and the stiffener. If any of you know of any other examples in museums, or private collections, which still have their original insignia it would be interesting to check the fixings. So far I have not seen one with a slider but it would be nice to see an example just to see how it was held in place. |
