Question 18th Division formation sign

I have two 18th Division formation signs the large unissued one I got from a forum member and I have no doubts on, the smaller one I bought some years ago at an arms fair and I have always had my doubts on it's originality. This badge was in unissued condition when I bought it, any ideas?

Thanks in advance for looking.

Rob

Default 18th Div formation signs

Jo,

Many thanks for your reply showing the IWM 18th Div formation sign, I was hoping for a comment on the other one shown by our cloth badge specialists.

This badge is in my opinion so different from the one I bought from a forum member which I am sure is original is that I have had my doubts as to it being a fake, I hope to be proved wrong.

My interest in the 18th Infantry Division is purely the fact that many local men served in it including my Father in Law.

Rob I bought one of those small ones from a dealer in Bury st Edmunds and I have never been happy with it. I have got a large printed genuine one just like your other one. I think they should all be like the large one , I have never seen an embroidered one either.

Default Small 18th Div sign

I cannot see why there is the difference in the size, is it just a manufacturers difference?

As I have not seen floods of the small ones around anywhere I am definitely keeping mine. Sadly few who wore this formation sign are with us to ask now which may have held the answer.
