A timeless classic Alli - I have it blasting in the car very frequently!!!!

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one

My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans

Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk

[Organ Solo]

Oh mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Spend your lives in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun

Well, I got one foot on the platform
The other foot on the train
I'm goin' back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain

Well, there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one

Hoot, not her first - "Downtown" was super - music that kept you singin' & tappin' along, easy to follow & catchy , but yes, she seemed to go downhill after that....

She is gone now I think....

I was itching to quote "Downtown" but thought it better to let you do the honours. Decidedly her best.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one Bryan, give me a woman who can really sing any time. Bessie Smith, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Mama Cass, Amy Winehouse, Dolly Parton and Kate Bush for example.

For me it is Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival going into The Clash and The Jam and "newer" stuff, Bon Jovi(big favourite) and Amy Winehouse.

Default Procol Harum

Another classic from that "Summer of Love"......

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more......

Its one of my constant favourites & I have it on regularly......

Bryan
