Default 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion Badges and Uniforms

We came across some lovely photos in the Museum archives of 1 Canadian Parachute Battalion personnel in which the cap badges are very clear, flashes not so much. The first photo is an officer with a lovely multi-piece cap badge. The second is of Lieutenant Colonel Eadie and Major Watters. The third is a photo of the Battalion Medical Officer, Captain Brebner, and an unknown Sergeant with a Bakelite cap badge and, what appears to be, Airborne Canada shoulder flashes, at the Regimental Aid Post. Finally, the fourth photo is a nice early one taken at Fort Benning in 1942 during jump stage training. The individuals are identified on the reverse as (L-R) Madden, Friel, Rossiter (same guy as photo 1?), Howard and Lieutenant GH Walker (KIA).

Excellent pictures,

I showed these pictures to a veteran friend of mine and according to him, the fellow in the center without the helmet of the 5 man group shot looks like Lt. Rossiter (later Capt). At one point after the war Capt Rossiter took over para training in Rivers. He died of a heart attack during training. His son was a writer for the Vancouver Sun a number of years ago.

Cheers
