Default Parachute Regiment QC

Gentlemen,
Whilst the kings crown badges to the Parachute Regt are often discussed on here and the very many fakes are weeded out, the queen crown badges never seem to come up.
There are so many differant badges because of the long period of wear that continues to this day.
Do any of you have any interesting examples, in particular those early metal and annodised examples?
Regards to you all,
Frank

Frank,
to be honest there should not be that many! On the change of crowns Officers would have continued to wear Silver/SP badges but OR's would have probably only been issued with Wm badges for a very short period as the issued items would have become anodised around about the same time! The majority of Wm QC badges in circulation are probably private purchase and not issued!

Hello Andy,
I would have thought that there would not be many early white metal examples, a good few differing anodised issued to the rank and file down the years, in addition, a number of others that have never been an issue badge.

First of all let me say that I know very little about these para badges. Here is one plastic which I bought back in 1968. I believe it has the same flaw like some from WW2 although this is plastic.

Hello,
Okay, its not just me then, its not plastic by the way, its anodised alloy, I must admit that I don't have this badge in my collection, I'd always been put off by the "metal" badges, with this mark on their sliders, that are out and out fakes, but, I have seen anodised examples turn up I had believed them to be of the period in question and correct.
Have you got any more?
Kind regards Frank Kelley

I have slidered and lugged qc a/a Para cap badges with no makers' marks. I bought these on separate trips to the Airborne Forces museum - 1979 and 1984.

Phil,
If bought from the museum/any museum then only the slightest chance it would be a genuine item!

Here are mine, W/M slidered, A/A slidered, A/A lugged, officers silvered and black anodised by Sharman D.Neill Ltd in Belfast.
Still on the lookout for a hallmarked silver (though I lack the space for the accompanying desk) and the current new metal versions.
Has anyone ever seen QC W/M lugged ones?

Rgds, Thomas.

Hello Thomas,
So what sort of money are you paying for these?
The slider pocket was something that appeared on berets post war and the first QC badges in white metal were made by Gaunt, they had the solid crown like the example shown in K&K Vol 2, they also made a voided version, again with the same JR Gaunt London marked slider, but, when it comes to the really new stuff, I have no idea and I dare say that they may well be lugged.
Regards Frank
