Hi Stephen,
Collar badge looks like a Sphinx and as you would know several regiments had this. Maybe South Wales Borderers, Manchester Regt., Gloucestershire Regt., South Staffordshire Regt.? Cheers, John |

I would say it is probably the SWB with that upwards tail, but the Manchester Regt. is also possible as I think they also had the same style sphinx.

That is exactly the type of sphinx worn by the Manchester Regiment, but as has been stated they were not alone.
The facings of white are correct for the Manchester Regiment also but again they are not alone in that. The Pouch Belt is for a Corps and probably RAMC, therefore Surgeon attached. regards

the SWB had green facings except for a short period at the turn of the 20th century

As far as I know it was white 1881-1905. Thus when the image is "Victorian", white is correct for the SWB.

Looking more closely at the buttons, I'd say Manchester Regiment.
You can see the garter strap and crown of the Manchester Regiment, attached are Manchester Regiment and SWB buttons. Chris |
