Default SAS/SBS Cloth Cap Badges

Hi Guys,

As one of the many things in life that I know nothing about cloth cap badges are one of them.

Can someone give me some advise on the authenticity of these two items.

SAS size including the number part is approx. 75 mm and approx 65 mm without by approx 40mm wide.

SBS is approx. 60mm by approx 40mm wide.

SBS has wire thread in both knife and scroll.

Many Thanks !!!

Regards

Chris

The SAS badge is a repro not an MoD issued item, when I find my notes I will explain why. See below.

Just in case you all missed my post on the black aa SAS badge it is a product of the 'Regalia Specialist' in Suffolk, again not an MoD, or Regiment item. The cloth subdued badges in black on green and the sand coloured variants are not MoD or Regiment as well.

There are two worsted badges the one shown was produced for the same dealer as above with the number A4628, yoy can still find the same badge for sale on this site or catalogue. The other badge that has the number C2204 in the same place was made for another known repro badge dealer.

Default sas badge

The SAS badge is a good one as the SAS themselves buy from all over the world, my nephew who is currently serving with the SAS in Afganistan is currently wearing a badge made in Pakistan on an American baseball cap, so you can see the SAS wear what they want when they want.

Smile Ref SAS Cloth badges

The 2 SAS badges I have included photographs of on My Album page came from my daughters boyfriend - who was and still is, serving in the regiment. I did have a very tatty one that I acquired in NI in the 60's, but that got mislaid in moving(s) etc. I asked him if he could get them for me, but didn't ask him whether it came from the stores or elsewhere - I have to assume that that both of them are "genuine" - I am not going to get into a debate with him anyway, he's a lot younger than me.... what can I say.

Rgds, David

A lot of similarities there between yours and mine.
