Lots of RAMC and RASC in "Ice Cold" aren't there?
I'm not a fan of the old war films but they were products of their times.

Taking a slightly different take on this ...

"In Which We Serve" (1942) Cap Tally H.M.S. TORRIN

"The Navy Lark" (1959) Cap Tally H.M.S. TROUTBRIDGE

"The Bulldog Breed" (1960) Cap Tally H.M.S. DORCHESTER

Three fictitious tallies (ribbons) that were made, but I have never seen one on the market. Not to mention other films. "In Which we serve", "Morning Departure", "The Cruel Sea", "The Yangtze Incident" and so on that used correct ribbons.

"Dunkirk" 1958, John Mills wearing the cap badge of the Wiltshire Regiment

"Dunkirk" 2017, Not sure if anyone else spotted this, but the scene where the little boats are preparing to leave, two senior rates with officer lace on their cuffs!!

Clive Dunn in first episode Dad's Army wore a Leicester Tigers Badge...I think the series was originally to be called 'The Fighting Tigers'.

Here he is, as mentioned in a 'Dad's Army' thread from a few weeks ago:

Hakeswill's shako plate is upside down for half of one episode.

When I saw it on stage in Streatham (early 1960s) the cast were wearing18 Inf Div formation signs - reasonably accurate given that the Division was wiped out in Singapore. Mike

Here’s another for you Tim (if you haven’t included already): ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning’.

Plenty of potential for shots of the Tigers’ beret badge, cloth shoulder titles, rank chevrons etc., during the fairground chase scenes. I’m sure you’ll be able to do a better job of capturing the images than I have:

JT,
Thanks, not a film I have seen recently but will research. Interesting that it looks like the large pattern bi-metal tiger cap badge worn in the beret.

Agreed; does look a bit big…

Great old flick though; Albert Finney, Shirley Anne Field, Norman Rossington.

Cheers,

A quick search shows Alan Ladd wearing a diced Glengarry with a red tourie, but haven't found a clear picture of the badge yet, but I'll keep looking.

Terry,
This shot is from the 1953 film The Red Beret, screened in the USA as Paratrooper.
American actor Alan Ladd purports to be a Canadian and volunteers for Airborne Forces. I think it shows him wearing the glengarry of a Canadian Scottish regiment. Later of course he wins his red beret. Film also features Harry Andrews as a Scots Guards RSM exchanging his Service Dress cap for a red beret with Parachute Regiment cap badge. Actor Leo Genn is wearing Green Howards badges and again is later wearing the badge and beret of the Parachute Regiment.

Tim,

Watched this oldie last night: 'Witness For The Prosecution', Charles Laughton, Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich [c.1958]. Some insignia scenes about 41 minutes in - nothing wonderful but you might be able to grab some material.

Can't find an image, but the old TV series "Please Sir", late 60's - early 70's, one of the characters "Frankie Abbott" joins the army, he's badged as the Buffs.
Edit, my mistake, it was episode 8 "The Thin Yellow Line"of the spin off series "The Fenn Street Gang".

Tim,

Do you have Ringo Starr, on Salisbury Plain, from the film 'Help'?
