The 2003 heat wave finished off my 94 year old grandmother in Leamington Spa.
She had lived through everything the 20th century had to offer - Great War, Great Depression, Second World War, post war austerity and of course the culture changes that she could never make sense of.

That is a real toughie for me too. The older I get, the less sense the world seems to be making. All my sociocultural yardsticks and points of reference seem to be evaporating at alarming speed. It is becoming more and more disorientating [cue violins]...

Very much the same for me as well. I think this is the case for the older generation throughout much of the world now.
