Default Cunning idea or perhaps not !

Next time you go to a Militaria ( or Antiques ) fair take a friend with a very large video camera and have them recording when you see something of interest. Make the Dealer a ridiculously low offer for the item.

He should accept, it always seems to work on Bargain Hunt !!!!!!!!!

But they send in the 'heavy squad' (researchers) beforehand to make the dealer "an offer he can't refuse" if he wants to appear on the show !

Default TV dramas

I once (foolishly) asked an antique shop in Devon that had been visited by the Antiques Road trip if the deals were real and I was promised they were . . !

As I left the shop several squadrons of pigs flew over.

I work for an antiques shop that has been on Road Trip and Celebrity Road Trip half a dozen times. The owners rationale is “how much would a 4-5 minute TV advert cost?” So they let the dealer have what s/he wants as it is well worth the publicity. And thus far EVERY item bought from our shop has made a profit. Additionally the expert and crew buy other things for themselves once filming has concluded, so it is win-win. And no, you won’t see me – prior to Covid I sat out the back working, however the last time they filmed they closed the shop for a couple of hours. and I toddled out for lunch.
