King's Own Royal Border Regt/ Queens Lancashire Regt.
Hello out there can any one give me a rundown on post 1970 cap badges.
Not really au fait with KORB have seen A/A by various manfacturers differing in detail, a bimetal version and an officers ? sp/gilt. Following upgrading of OR's badges in late '90's how does this differ from the previously used officers. Same really applies to 1st issue QLR's where we have plain, painted and gilt/enamel badges. |

The KORBR wore a cloth one in their berets and an a/a in their SD caps.
The bi-metal badges can be bought commercially. The QLR came in plain a/a and was then painted red by the soldier. I have not seen an enamelled one in that style but metal commercially produced ones exist. There are 2 types of yellow backing - a thin rigid plastic one and a buff foam one. The QLRs improved OR badge is in gilt and enamel and slidered. Both regts were amalgamated into one new regt and all ranks currently wear the same badge as far as I am aware.
