Wiltshire A.C.F
Just received the following message from a member of the forum
''I have had some modern repro's of the old badge made up and will wear one at the veterans weekend in Trowbridge '' My comments would be unprintable |

David,
May be old age but I seem to think that there was a strangely coloured Wiltshire ACF sign on E bay fairly recently. I wonder if that is one of them ? Peter Sorry it was a senior moment on my part, it was not a Wlltshire ACF item. P.B.

Why?
It's the best way of getting the old ex-cadets to come up to you and start talking about their experiences of the ACF in their day. The badges themselves will be obviously be of modern manufacture (not printed like original) with merrow edge. If anyone mistakes these as original they should not be in the hobby. I attach the design being produced. 10 only and I will write on the back of each one if you are that worried. |

What a stupid statement to make I would suspect that most members of this forum would not know a genuine 1 from a repro ,since they may have not seen an original or be aware of the material they are made from Often very experienced collectors ask for advise on items outside their collecting field on the forum I believe that you have a number of genuine of these items in your collection You could have placed 1 of these in a plastic bag worn as modern rank slide ,or pinned a photo to your cloths If you were very desperate I could have lent you a spare -no need to devalue the hobby with new repro;s Finally re your offer to mark these I would rather see a nice shredded pile Regards David |

Naming the copies
I think the offer to write on the back of each one that they are copies, produced for xyz celebration or event, is a very generous one given the circumstances and purpose. In a 100 years, they will be collectable items in its own right for that reason.
