Default AFPU badges, original or?

An uncut set of AFPU formation signs appeared on ebay recently, but it was ended early. Any thoughts on authenticity? I'm not sure myself, they appear to be genuine glue backs but I have never seen AFPU badges made in this way.

Default AFPU

In my opinion, if something seems too good to be true.................................
As a basis for comparison here's my example - it's been in the wars, literally. Note the separation between P and U and also the tapered tripod legs. Mike

I have a different point of view. I believe them to be original and have one in my collection.

On close inspection the AFPU badge in question shares the same tailoring detail as some other badges in my collection. Badges that would be commonplace, even boring and not worth the fakers effort. This style of manufacture I have always understood to be of Italian origin.

A look back in the 1970's sometime and you will see one in the MHS Formation Sign journal. I am not in a position to find this right now but others with a keen memory may be able to post the image. Cheers for now. Ian
