Default Some unknown Arab patches and metal badges

Dear all,

Still sorting my «*big*» grouping and have difficulties to sort and identify some of them.

Your help will really helpful!

Best regards,

A

I guess the 3 cap badges with the crown on the top left hand corner are Jordanian?

Hi A

As far as I know those indicated on attached photo are from:

1. Oman, not sure what exactly.

2. Libya, I believe Municipal Police or similar.

3. Aden, Government Guards headdress badges. The larger two post-1961, the smaller 1930-52*.

4. Possibly Iraq, army branch collar badges?

I should add I am far from an expert in these areas, I do collect worldwide police insignia so have a couple of reference books used to ID some of those above*.

Hope this helps

Graham

The patches I would lean towards Iraqi.

2nd photo,
The top middle (crown, eagle and wreath) is Jordanian Air Force cap badge, and the metal one.

The other crown could be Jordanian but I'm not sure, it doesn't look like anything I've seen before

The skull shield is Syrian Republican Guard -worn on the right breast.

I also thing the arm of service badges are Iraqi.

Keep them coming.
Steve.

Hi A

British Colonial Badges, and British Colonial Badges II, both by Renfrew, Renfrew, and Cranston. ISBNs: 978-0-9563175-1-3 and 978-0-9563175-2-0, cover many badges from Arab nations formerly British colonies/protectorates/mandates.

The Military and Police Forces of the Gulf States: Volume 1: Trucial States and United Arab Emirates, 1951–1980 (Middle East at War Book 16) by Cliff Lord and Athol Yates. ISBN: 978-1-912390-61-8, covers the Trucial States/UAE military and police insignia in depth (although it lacks information on uniform buttons ) is well worth getting. I think there is a sister volume on Bahrain and Qatar(?) in the pipeline.

Hope this helps

Graham

Think the Aden ones are Federal National Guard, post Federation and the small one I think is an Officer's.

Dear both,

Thank you so much for the information. Oman, then 🙂 I would not have been able to guess it by myself...

Have a nice day.

Best regards,

A
