pouch badge looks as if it was blacked and has been cleaned

This was bought at the weekend sale at Lockdales it appears to be 1st Bn with a male Sphinx
however churchills states it's unknown with enamel?

Neil,

The Pouch BELT Plate is silvered and was not ever blackened.

The black on the rear is off congealed leather.

A nice badge

I had always been under the impression that these were for the mess dress collars. This one has had the lugs cut and been brooched.
