It is an OR collar badge, not a cap badge nor an officer OSD, which were the same but larger. The OSD cap badge will be bronzed with blades (tangs).

THANK YOU Guys, I really appreciate the input !! Well, I figured I would check prior to buying, as you can probably tell by now, U.K. Cap Badges are not my particular expertise !! I did see an example offered that was exactly as all of you have described, however, one of the two prongs has broken off, therefore I passed on it. If I absolutely can't find what I need, maybe I'll break down & grab that one if still available ? Ohh well, back to searching. Have a nice Sunday Gentleman.

On 2nd thought, here's the possible candidate I was referring to. It appears to be an early version, does have the prongs, but unfortunately one of which is damaged, as you can by the reverse scan. Any comments ? THANKS AGAIN,

THANKS 'Leigh', I truly appreciate your input. So now the issue remains as to whether it's actually worth the seller's price, based upon of course the broken prong ? He wants 15.00 & 4.00 GBP , which equates to $21 & $5.60 in USD. I mean that's not an enormous sum, of which I honestly don't care too much if it is 'exactly' what I need / want. I guess I could always pick this one up until a better example comes along ? Based upon what you Folks have observed within this particular market, does anyone feel that I should buy now, at least until better comes along ? OR, perhaps I should choose to pass on it, as it is damaged ? Any comments Gentlemen ?

VERY NICE Chris, I appreciate your sharing. I usurp have a great deal of my collection set all up & displayed in my 'formerly finished' basement. Honestly, it was really nice, until that dreaded day back in 2010 when my area was hit with what they referred to as 'The Flood of the Century' !! And you can take it from me, they were for once being totally accurate !! I ended up with over 12" of water in my beautiful collecting world, which after the local Fire Department pumped out all the water, we had to literally rip everything bout, right down to bare concrete !! Needless to say, that was the bitter wolf my displaying days !! Luckily, with my help I managed not to lose anything, but I've been living with 55, 50 gallon Tupperware bins full of my Library still stored in my garage. Ohhh how I miss all my books. So now, I pretty much just dream about displaying everything again. Plus, my wife keeps telling me I'm getting too old for 'playing with medals & stuff'. She wants me to sell it all off. I told her that as soon as she sells off all her 200 +/- pairs I of shoes, I'll think about selling my collection !! SORRY for the rant here, but sometimes I get carried away when thinking about that 2020 debacle.

Regards, Dom P.

Dom. Sorry to hear about your flood nightmare. As for the wife telling you to sell your collection, you are not alone.
Ref buying the badge that’s got a missing tang/prong I have bought a few badges over the years with lug missing etc but they were quite hard to come by badges. I do prefer to wait for good examples to turn up. I don’t think the badge you now know you want is a rare item. However that said if you just want to add it to a display of medals no one would be the wiser.
Regards
Chris

THANKS Chris, I appreciate the advice. Believe it or not, I just happened across what I 'think' might be a correct, period example. The problem, is it is a problem, is that he wants $49.00 USD for it, which to sounds somewhat on the high side ?
[ Re: 35.00 GBP / 27.00 + 8.00 GBP ] I've included both obverse & reverse scans for confirmation if you would be so kind. Whenever I pick up something new, I always seem to be in a big hurry to get it set up. Why, I honestly don't know because it simply just occupies a little space in my collecting room / office !! Thanks again,

Dom

It’s entirely up to you but it may be worth considering a collar badge, they’re on loops and same size as the OSD cap badge.

If you’re intending on mounting the badge, loops are often far easier to deal with taking it out and putting it back. And mounted, there will be no visible difference.

Tels-insignia (no connection) has a nice Gaunt marked collar for just £8. Perhaps worth considering if you want one right now? Then you could bide your time until a really nice bladed example came along at the right price.

This is what you are ideally looking for, but I cannot recommend it for that price. These are not scarce badges and a little patience will turn up another at a much more reasonable price.

THANK YOU My Friends, As always I'm truly do appreciate all the kind advice. I too feel that the latest example I Posted is indeed way over priced. Honestly, based upon my many years of collecting, I feel a Badge such as that should run around $25 USD. As we all know, there's no shortage of available RAMC OSD examples out there, it's just trying to find one manufactured during a specific period. But too high, is too high, plain & simple ! I also plan to look into the Collar version as indicated by 'Luke H' a bit earlier. However that too may not be exactly what I'm seeking, as it's reputed to be of Gaunt mtg, which IIRC, that would indicate post WW1 production, as Gaunt reportedly purchased the original WW1 manufacturer of whom I can't immediately recall the name. I'll most likely hold off until I've found one that's both correct & also within reason, which I'm certain will come along sooner or later. The main thing is that that I was fortunate enough to both obtain the Medal Group which this particular Badge is in reference to, & if course to have so much luck in researching it, as in my experience, documenting British Decorations to Foreign / U.S. recipients can be most frustrating with some being much more so than others ! On this item I was indeed very fortunate, due primarily to the extremely kind assistance of fellow collectors, & along with my extensive personal reference library which I been compiling now for just about 50 years. Well, THANKS AGAIN Gentlemen, & if in the off chance that someone here happens across an example of the RAMC Badge I'm looking for, & at a fair price, PLEASE do let me know at; dpast32@aol.com

Best regards, Dom Pastore Jr. / 'dpast32'

OK Guys, I'm almost done bothering you Folks, but I would like to Post these Scans here, so that they might be viewed & hopefully be commented upon. From what I can see, they appear to be exactly alike, right down to their price. ( = 15.00 GBP / $19.50 USD, Both + Postage ) As you see, they're OSD Collar Badges, hopefully of WW1 era manufacture ? Like Luke H. said, they will be just fine for the interim until I do locate 'exactly' what I'm seeking. Also, either of these examples will allow me to get by at a decent price for right now. OK, I will await any comments which may follow regarding their suitability for my purposes ? As I wasn't able to download either scan off of their Website, I had to resort to Posting their LINK, which should hopefully take you to them, & to view each via their Item #'s. The 2 Badges in question are ITEMS # 77708 & # 77709. PLEASE advise if anyone has any trouble in viewing them ? THANKS AGAIN, I deeply appreciate all your continued assistance !!

Regards, Dom P. / dpast32@aol.com
