Unidentified Badges -Can anyone help
Can anyone help identify this hat badge and shoulder title?
I believe that the hat badge could be Canadian as they have this design on some of their badges and have also used the kangaroo The shoulder title may be Austrian - as worn by the Trapp Family Singers |

People are no doubt going to struggle to answer you question since you have not posted the correct photograph.
To answer your question the only Canadian WW2 badge that featured a kangeroo was the 1st Canadian Armoured (Personnel) Carrier Regiment. The Kangeroo signifies the sherman tanks used by this unit (named the Kangeroo) missing the turret converted to personel carriers. This badge has been heavily faked.

JJ - No ! I'm going to have a go at the photographs posted ! The rising sun badge is clearly Japanese and the title - yes - it's the Von Trapp Family Singers. Knowledge is a wonderful thing ! Keep smiling amid the adversity. Regards. David

It has to be Japanese ............. from the land of the rising sun I think that you are wrong about the shoulder titles though. Initially I thought that it was Austrian however, on closer examination, I find that it spells Australia. As that is a land down under ......... the title has to be that worn by a member of the submarine service of the Swiss navy.. |
