Default How to represent Int Corps in WWI cap badge collection

Hi All,

In WWI I am given to understand the Int Corps wore insignia of 10th 'Stockbrokers' (Service) Battalion, R Fusiliers (some sources say 20th).

In my cap badge collection I have chosen to represent the RHA, RFA and RGA as an RA cap badge over the corresponding shoulder title. I would like to do so as well for the Int Corps.

I am guessing the right thing to do is to put an officers' R Fusiliers cap badge (the Int Corps was comprised only of officers and their servants) above a shoulder title saying "10th" but I don't really "speak officer" and am not sure whether there are such things as officers' shoulder titles. Would they be gilt or bronze instead of brass? And which shoulder title did the 10th wear? Westlake unfortunately seems to have had a day off when he wrote the RF chapter and doesn't mention the 10th (Service) except as a TF battalion.

Thanks and best wishes,

Tom

I think 10th RF administered Intelligence Police were also of SNCO and WO rank.

Officers of the WW1 Intelligence Corps would not have worn the Royal Fusiliers cap badge unless they were Royal Fusiliers, they wore their various previously allocated regimental badges or that of the General List or the General Staff Badge with green tabs.
As said by Leigh, some WOs and NCOs wore the badges of the ‘10th’ Bn RF but were nothing to do with “Stockbrokers” or “Sportsmen” battalions. I believe using 10th Bn RF was an administrative convenience or perhaps initially just a weak ‘cover story’. The men selected from civilian life for intelligence duties were likely to have specialisms in languages etc and probably also be ex Criminal Investigation Division or Special Branch police officers.

Thanks, Tim.

I think that's a good point. I think I'll represent them with the Officers' General List cap badge instead.
