Royal Regiment of Scotland "Hackles" Question
I have managed to obtain five of the cloth "hackles" worn by the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Does anybody know if these also exist for the Reserve battalions? 52nd Lowland, 6th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland 51st Highland, 7th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland Or any others. Thanks in advance.

Many thanks for the information. Would these items be marked 6 Scots and 7 Scots or somthing else, like Highland or Lowland Volunteers? TIA

I had understood these Bns had adopted new hackles as part of their new "Regimental identity".
In the case of 6 SCOTS this was a grey hackle and for 7 SCOTS a purple hackle. |

I'm surprised to see that the 3rd Bn are wearing a badge with the hackle as their predecessor , The Black Watch, didn't when wearing a ToS.

Thanks to all for the feedback.
As I understand it then, these items are unofficial and not issue. I assume that somebody is wearing them, and the others mentioned? Maybe until the RSM, or somebody similar, spots them. The late John Bailey, of the MHERS, once told me that a fellow Royal Marine put up a "BLAV" title that didn't stay up too long. BLAV standing for "British Latin American Volunteer".

The badges are included in the family of unofficial but tolerated 'Morale badges'. They are purchased by the individual and were (maybe still are) worn on such items as body armour, day sacks, Bergans, and occasionally the helmet cover.

During Op HERRICK 10 (2009) members of 3 SCOTS (including the CO) wore these 'morale' badges on helmet covers and floppy bush hats. However, they differ from the examples previously shown as they don't have '3 SCOTS' on them just the hackle.
