...the new badge is a thousand times better than the re-gurgitated Queens Own Yeomanry one, and the guys have been very impressed with the new issue one so far. Hopefully, i'll be picking mine up from the 'Q' on tuesday!!

....herewith the new TRF. Size is 6.5cm long by 4.4cm wide. The colours are dark blue with a green band. The TRF is machine woven onto a black/naval blue wool, and has a typical very dark grey backing, whilst the edge is merrowed! The capbadge is embroidered onto a black/naval blue wool backing, and has a dark blue merrowed edge around it. There is no backing paper to the cloth capbadge. Remember, these cloth capbadges are only temporary, whilst we wait for the new metal ones!!

In reply to some of the comments made above I understand that designs incorporating Celtic symbols were considered by those who were coming together to form the new Regimental hierarchy but, when "floated" for comment, proved deeply unpopular with those soldiers who would have had to wear them.
I further understand that part of the thinking behind the use of the wolf's was that whilst it was an animal once native to both Ireland and Scotland it also chimed with the image that some sought to create for the new Regiment. |

For completeness, a copy of the original thoughts for the capbadge.

I'm interested in gwrco's observations about the new Troopers' cloth cap badge being embroidered onto a black/naval blue wool backing without any backing paper. Exmples of the badge were available recently on eBay for around £12.00 from what appears a reputable source 'north of the border'. They were identical to the image in 45Bty's June post with the crest embroidered onto a 35mmx50mm woven rectangle with a film-like backing. Are these the 'real-deal' or prototypes ?

Here are front and back images of the SNIY Troopers' badge I referred to in my 2nd November post. Anyone able to advise whether this is the issued version, prototype, or a copy? Hopeful of the thumbs up! Thanks.

My understanding was that the "next step" in the capbadge story was to get one manufactured that has writing on the scroll......
I've also seen three different versions of ranks slides. The first has the Regimental title, in yellow thread, in full (worn by someone I saw at RHQ). The second has just "SNIY", in yellow thread and the third type has "SNIY" in black thread (but the officers' rank outlined in yellow thread). |

I did see on e..y,a set of metal badges. The title is "SNIY" in new metal gilt.
It appears that the collar badges which were apparently were to be the same size as the cap badge have now been reduced in size to 2/3rds of the cap badge . |

Is this changing now? Does this mean they all squadrons will start to wear the same insignia within each yeomanry regiment? Mick

I was told when the new badges came out that the collars were the same as the cap badge in all ways. I was suprised to see collars that were a different size . |

The last time I contacted them the Wolf collars were for HQ, all the others were to get new made old designs relevant to their title.
