does any member know what regiments served at Trichinopoly during the period 1880 to 1936 ?

If you google the name listed above, you will see where the district is, then "Madras/Bengal" Regts will show up, you will have to look into British Regts to go further into this.

i am researching my families military history , well trying to ! my great uncle who served in the west yorkshire regt / pwo

Lionel,

The 1911 Census shows a Private John William Hornby, born 1886, serving in India with 2nd Bn Dorset Regt.
