I have a feeling that this could be an early Boy Scouts of America badge - I don't have access to my notes - equally I could be way off! (But that's my suspicion at the minute)

Some of these titles were worn by American citizens who joined the Canadian army. It was not an accepted practice, but none the less, they were taken into wear. There are quite a few varieties of the title.
