Green "Flash" on White - Any Ideas?
I am trying to work out what this is for from eBay. It is listed as being a Royal Observer Corps Item, although I have a reasonable knowledge on OC/ROC things, this is a new one on me!

Great - and many thanks for such a fast response Leigh - one that most definitely falls outside of my collecting remit!

These bars were used by the PMRAFNS trainee nurses to show year of training ie 1 bar - 1st year of training: 2 bars - 2nd year of training. The acronym stands for probationary enrolled nurse 1 bar. As all three services used to train their own nurses it may be a multi service emblem. They were sewn up as shoulder slides. The green colour was for State Enrolled Nurses and a similar item with blue bars was for State Registered Nurse trainees.

In the QARANC trainee SEN's were known as Pupil Nurses and trained for 2 years and trainee SRN's as Student Nurses and trained for 3 years so a 3 bar blue insignia was also used, same as in the NHS where Green and Blue were also the identifying colours.
