A rat's tail
Hi, between the red on white rat and the orange on black were a large variety of red and pink rats which my pet theory is they can be dated by the length of their tails. this is in part debunked by the split tail rat which is noticeable shorter, or maybe it's just a genetic mutation which reappears later in the black and orange version. The red on white rat was worn mainly by SA forces, I think the left facing one that Mike has is an unfinished one-it should have a red felt backing. The British ones are usually right facing. All the above is my opinion and may be proved totally wrong. Mike
