To resurrect an old thread but I was told by an old vet that he knew WW1 vetrans that served on the Veterans Guard. He tells me that the corps was made up entirely of NCOs. Any confirmation of this? Who would the officers have been?

The Veterans Guard was made up of First World War vets, all ranks.
My maternal grandfather served as a private, guarding PoW's at Spanish is northeastern Ontario.

Chances are good that he was a veteran of the First World War. A quick look reveals this attestation - http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/d...&id_nbr=453238

The name of the attesting officer - Maj FV Young - stirred a memory.
There was an MCC of C article about an FV Young written back in the late 1970s. I'll dig up the journal tonight. I seem to recall it was about reuniting a NW Canada Medal with a Canada GS Medal (I think). Phil
